Quality cloth at its finest...
Snooker Direct use only 100% pure wool West of England cloth, which guarantees the best playing performance. The most highly regarded snooker, pool and billiards cloths are manufactured in the West of England and a true English snooker cloth is made from wool with a directional nap on the surface which is woven to the exact standards of the snooker and pool industry.
If you rub the cloth lightly in one direction it gives a smooth feeling to the hand. If rubbed in the opposite direction the cloth has a rough resistant feel.
The higher qualities of billiard cloth are very fine so that when the snooker ball is in motion it rolls on and there is relatively little friction to arrest its travel. The quality of snooker and pool cloth is iimperative as the replacement of poor cloth with the high quality article will only result in needless expenditure, so it is best to get it right first time. |
Italian billiard slate... when only the best will do
There is no better playing surface for a snooker or pool table than slate. Slate is a durable stone with a low moisture-absorption rate and a stable surface and so perfect for use in billiards.
At Snooker Direct we ensure every piece of table slate we use is 100% tested for flatness and measurements prior to encasement. All our table slate is diamond-honed, precision-machined and levelled 0.1 - 0.2mm.
Our billiard slate is subject to complex gauging and surfacing operations, producing an extremely flat surface. Properly processed, both Italian and Brazilian slates are the most suited for billiard use.
Flatness, the essential element in slate quality, is achieved through a precise art of machining, a process which is stringently monitored. Despite natural differences, such as hardness and colour variations, occurring between Italian and Brazilian billiard slate, the playability and lifetime of both is identical.
